Indian cities are growing at an unprecedented pace, with one-third of the country’s population living in urban areas and contributing a majority share to our GDP. It is now a challenge to keep infrastructure intact and cater to the millions that now consider these cities their home. Against this backdrop, INR.48,000 crore and INR 50,000 crore earmarked for Smart Cities Mission and AMRUT respectively are essential steps taken by the Government to develop urban infrastructure.

Owing to the complexity of the Smart City projects, it is vital for the Central & State Government, Urban Local Bodies, Technology Players, Investors, Private Companies and other stake holders to collaborate towards the success of these projects. The Government’s 100 Smart cities mission seeks to invest over $15 Billion in the next few years to build efficient & effective city management solutions & infrastructure.

There is a need for creating & building urban cityscape and framework applying global best practices while looking at the local realities and the challenges addressed with a holistic approach. The cities selected under
the Smart city initiative are looking to promote themselves as investment & manufacturing hubs to increase the local job opportunities.

While this summit will mainly focus on the overarching picture and the construct of cities, it will also provide a platform for knowledge  dissemination, bring the respective leadership from other cities to share best practices and collaborate with technology & service providers to prospect business opportunities.

Developing citizen friendly and economically viable cities is an urban initiative by the Government of India. Cities are engines of economic growth, and it is anticipated that 40% of India’s population will live in cities by 2030. With the rapid rise in the proportion of people living in urban areas, there is an increasing requirement for sustainable cities.

Hence, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mission of Smart Cities is intended to transform the lives and living conditions of the citizens of the country.

Recognizing smart cities as an important platform to drive progressive change, the 4th Smart Cities India 2018 Expo will be supported by 4 other co-located expos to create "One Mega Event".

We are the Supporting Association for this influential event to be attended by more than 15,000 attendees. As a part of this association, we are helping the event with reduction of carbon footprint, media outreach and sustainable event planning.
